So they were delusions of grandeur after all.

So much was made here in the heart of Texas over the bold words Florida Atlantic coach Howard Schnellenberger had for the Longhorns a few weeks back.

It was a big deal when he basically called out Texas as being vulnerable because "it has never really been a tough team, a physically tough team." He boldly proclaimed his belief that being "mean, nasty and ornery" would be integral to his Owls making this soft program succumb.

In the end Saturday night, all those folks in burnt orange thrusting "Hook 'em Horns" signs at Schnellenberger left …
