IBM this month joined fellow Intel Pentium competitors AMD Research Inc. and Cyrix Corp. in delivering its own version of the 6x86 desktop microprocessor.
The chip's P-rating of P200 means it delivers performance the same as, or exceeding, Intel Corp.'s 200-MHz Pentium chip, according to MicroDesign Resources Inc., in Mountain View, Calif. (See "200-MHz Pentium gets lukewarm reaction," June 10, page 10.)
