The purpose of this article is to compare what is actually happening in client/server computing to what is being reported, from the types of applications being implemented to the obstacles of implementing client/server applications. This paper is based on an exploratory survey of client/server computing issues. The survey was sent to a cross-section of companies and organizations in Florida. Fifty companies were selected for the survey, and 22 responses were returned from these companies.
