Sky Television has delivered a body blow to advertisers by declaring that the Frank Bruno and Mike Tyson fight next Sunday morning won't carry any ads.
Instead it's Sky subscribers who will foot the bill in the UK's first pa-per-view broadcast: 9.95 [pounds sterling] if paid for before midnight on Friday, 14.95 [pounds sterling] after.
For Sky the logic of not allowing ads during the broadcast is obvious. The Bruno fight should be a draw for new subscribers and anyone who signs up as a Sky customer this month will get the fight for free. But Sky's existing 4.7 million subscribers are being asked to pay, even though they may have had a dish for several years.…
