VW unveils new Golf.
According to Volkswagen, there is no guarantee that the sixth-generation Golf will come to the States, but we don't see how the German automaker could afford not to bring it here.
Whether it comes or not, a range of four-cylinder engines will power the Golf, from 80 hp to 211 hp.
There are no immediate plans for a follow-up to the 250-hp, 3.2-liter V6powered R32. Instead, VW is toying with the idea of a 265-hp version of the GTI's enginethe same engine found in the rapid Audi S3for a new four-wheel-drive R version of the Golf.
Diesels will boast 90 hp to 170 hp. VW is developing a gasoline-electric hybrid as well.
