The Cancer Treatment Centers of America(*) (CTCA) have agreed to settle FTC allegations that they made false and unsubstantiated claims in advertising and promoting their cancer treatments. Among the claims in question were that using "whole body hyperthermia" and "brachytheraphy," they were able to successfully treat certain forms of cancer unresponsive to conventional treatment. CTCA was also unable to substantiate a claim that its 5-year survivorship rate had ranked among the highest recorded for cancer patients.
