Avenue Last Goodbye (Island)
Island hopes to successfully reinvent the boy band blueprint this summer with the launch of Avenue, an all-male five-piece from the team at Crown Music Management.
Originally getting exposure via the X Factor show two years ago, the group were disqualified from the competition because they had an existing management contract. They subsequently parted company with their team in favour of Crown Music, home to Sugababes and Gabriella Cilmi among others.
Universal Island marketing manager Sarah Boorman says the group's sound is a big step on from the plastic pop of the traditional boy band.
"Avenue have the ability to be all things to all people," she says. "We aren't restricting them at all. They can appeal to younger fans as well as older audiences."
