Cary Brothers: In My Dreams (Bluhammock)

That's one bloke called Cary - widescreen, emoto-tastic indie-rock is the music playing in poor old Claire Bennet's head as she tips her dad's ashes into the sea in Heroes. It is deeply sombre and expensive sounding and desperately uncool and I like it very, very much indeed.

John Damon (Big Cheese)

Sherwood: Songs In My Head (MySpace Records)

Like a cross-pollination of Jimmy Eat World and Sensefield, Sherwood's sun-dappled pop/rock stylings are just like the vintage T-birds you'll see cruising the coast of their stomping ground. This is a perfect example of American timelessness.
