Lexmark International Inc. is filling out its Optra line. The company announced the Optra N network printer and enhancements to its MarkVision connectivity software last week.

The printer manufacturer intends to take on Hewlett-Packard Co.'s LaserJet 5Si in a battle for mid-range market share by adding management features and broader connectivity to its 24-page-per-minute laser printer.

"What Lexmark is doing is targeting a more full-featured solution, and [delivering] it at a better price than its competitors are," said John Goetz, an analyst at the Giga Information Group, in Santa Clara, Calif.
