AS the recent HBO miniseries on his life revealed, John Adams was one of our most quotable Founding Fathers. Here's a remark he made about his vice presidency (both on television and in real life): "My country has in its wisdom contrived for me the most insignificant office that ever the invention of man contrived or his imagination conceived."
