Michael Knox Beran offers an intriguing explanation of Senator Kennedy's persistently liberal approach to politics and lawmaking ("Lion in Winter," June 16). It nicely explains an otherwise irrational approach to reality. However, I take issue with Beran's characterization of Kennedy's liberalism--"he adheres to it uncritically and unreflectively, in the way the reformed drunkard holds to his 12 Steps."
