A dangerous mid-ocean rescue of a family of four - including an 18-month-old toddler - earned special honors for the master and crew of an APL containership.
The APL vessel plucked the family from their floundering yacht in the early morning hours of June 9 during a storm far out in the Atlantic, earning a special commendation from the U.S. Coast Guard.
When they were rescued, the parents and their children, aged 5 years and 18 months, were stranded in 15-foot swells 1,600 miles off the U.S. East Coast.
