Monsanto and Syngenta say they have agreed to settle legal disputes related to their respective genetically modified (GM) corn and soybean businesses. The deal settles patent, antitrust, and commercial litigation between the two companies and their subsidiaries, including an antitrust suit that was set to go to court this month.

The companies say they have also agreed to cross-license several of each other's GM technologies. Syngenta says it will receive a royalty-bearing license to Monsanto's Roundup Ready2Yield soybean technology, and more favorable marketing conditions related to Monsanto's Bt-11 trait for European corn borer control.
