Three countertop appliances have been recalled by the Consumer Product Safety Commission because the small appliances all pose a fire hazard.

The largest recall includes 482,000 Hamilton Beach and Proctor Silex two- and four-slice toasters because they can remain "on" and energized even after toast pops up, and could cause nearby items to ignite. JCPenney recalled 27,000 deep-fat fryers (model 22016) with faulty heating elements, and QVC and Tristar recalled 13,500 Hulk Hogan's Ultimate Grill electric grills (model PZ-3012) because cooking oil or spray can ignite when applied to the grill.
