DEMO--Simplifying application development on the World Wide Web will be a major theme at this week's Demo 96 conference, in Indian Wells, Calif.

Leading the parade of introductions will be Jasmine, an authoring environment for creating multimedia electronic commerce applications, from Computer Associates International Inc., in Islandia, N.Y.

At the core of the Jasmine environment is client software that works in conjunction with Web browsers, and an authoring tool that manipulates data stored in a multiplatform object-oriented database.

Due in the third quarter, Jasmine will have a starting price of $1,000.
