Surveyor Guy Blanchet's profession took him to many parts of northern Canada as he mapped the unknown wilderness. Starting locally near Edmonton in 1906, he surveyed meridian lines and timber limits before moving to the far north in 1920 and into the Barrenlands in 1926. Travelling by canoe, on foot, and later by aircraft, he led an exciting and often dangerous life.
