FRANCHITTI INJURED
Dario Franchitti was involved in an early-race wreck during the NASCAR Nationwide Series race at Talladega Superspeedway. He broke his left ankle and missed the following day's Sprint Cup race. He was scheduled to see Dr. Terry Trammell in Indianapolis for evaluation and treatment the week between the Talladega and Richmond races.
HARVICK SAYS NO
In the wake of former NASCAR driver Aaron Fike's admission that he sometimes used heroin on race days, Kevin Harvick initiated a drug-testing program for his NASCAR team. He is using an independent lab to test all employees within the next few weeks and says that his Nationwide and Craftsman Truck Series drivers, crew chiefs and office employees have volunteered to undergo testing. Harvick, who drives for Richard Childress Racing, wants NASCAR to adopt a similar testing policy.
SUPER AGURI QUESTIONABLE
The Super Aguri Formula One team scraped together sufficient budget to race in Spain. The team, owned by Aguri Suzuki, has struggled since a major sponsor allegedly defaulted last year but was confident of fresh investment from the Gulf state of Dubai, yet the deal fell through a week before the Spanish Grand Prix. However, Suzuki was notably upbeat in Barcelona about the prospects of getting his cars onto the grid for the next race.
