READER'S DIGEST has parted company with its longtime distributor of adult trade books, Random House. Effective February 20, the Putnam Publishing Group will assume retail distribution for all RD adult trade titles. The Random House Merchandise Group will continue to distribute RD's children's trade titles. According to Linda Brinton, RD trade publisher, RD was unable to come to financial terms with Random for a new pact, and she added that she thinks the new deal with Putnam "will bring vitality to our sales."
