International Shipholding Corp. reported net income increased to $4.81 million for the three months ended March 31, 2008, up from $4.74 million a year ago.

Results included net income of $4.13 million from the disposal of equipment from the Mobile company's discontinued LASH service.

Operating income fell to $1.48 million from $1.94 million after one of the company's vessels servicing its Indonesian operations experienced a significant off-hire period resulting from damage to its engine.
