Message from the president.

This message must begin with a heartfelt "thank you!" YOU, our supporters, are the lifeblood of SIECUS and we could not have accomplished all we did over the past year without you. When I look back at 2007, I am awestruck by the advances made for sexual and reproductive health and rights. Despite challenges presented by the far right, states across the country were able to improve sexuality education and access to sexual and reproductive health services. And though the Bush administration and Congress continue to put obstacles in our way, we made progress on national and international fronts as well. All said, thanks to YOU, 2007 brought greater accomplishments than any time in recent years! YOU enabled SIECUS to:

* work with partners in states across the country to successfully encourage their Governors to withdraw from the Title V abstinence-only-until-marriage program

* get language supporting comprehensive sexuality education and guaranteeing medical accuracy in sex education introduced in the House and Senate

* educate all 535 members of Congress, as well as countless state and local policymakers, on abstinence-only-until-marriage programs, comprehensive sexuality education, and HIV, STD, and unintended pregnancy prevention

* monitor and report on more than 200 sexuality education controversies

* provide thousands of advocates facing controversies with specialized technical assistance

* launch a new website, www.SexEdLibrary.org, designed to provide educators who teach ...
