The fast-food giant with a pounds 13 million advertising budget has picked eight agencies to go to the next pitch stage. They are: JWT, Ogilvy Advertising, Miles Calcraft Briginshaw Duffy, Saatchi & Saatchi, Delaney Lund Knox Warren & Partners and three others.
Slightly more discerning has been The Army in its direct marketing pitch. It has shortlisted six shops, managing to find that number despite two stringent requirements: the agencies must have worked with the Ministry of Defence in the past and have telemarketing experience.
