Implementation of EDI systems: a case study of benefits for a small manufacturing company. (electronic data interchange)
Large firms, buying in large quantities from multiple suppliers, have seen substantial benefits from using electronic data interchange (EDI) technology. A high volume of transactions and large number of suppliers have made EDI technology cost-effective for these firms. These large companies have motivated, pushed, or intimidated their much smaller suppliers into joining the EDI bandwagon. However, whether these companies have received benefits similar to those of larger firms is questionable.
