The wide-spread proliferation of end-user computing and client/server architectures presents today's information systems professionals with the difficult task of managing assets they do not control. This requires a "partnership" relationship between IS professionals and their end-users. But such partnerships do not form overnight and small steps are sometimes needed. User empowerment is one lane on the road to partnership. Training can provide opportunity for user empowerment.
