Information, the long forgotten asset of a company, has received major attention lately. In this era of cost cutting, staff reductions and productivity improvements, the management of documents has become the center of re-engineering projects. These re-engineering efforts are looking to SGML, an international standard for text identification and management, as the solution. SGML provides a framework for open systems that can easily be altered to fit an individual company's needs.
