Alberta Arts and Artists: An Overview by Patricia Ainsley & Mary-Beth Laviolette. Calgary: Fifth House Publishers. 147 pp, illus., colour plates, hard cover coffee table, $39.99.

This ambitious project brings together two important aspects of Alberta art. The first are biographies of the most prominent artists, and the second is to display their finest works in colour and in black & white images. The authors also offer critiques of the works displayed.
