I visited Calgary some time ago and while in the city visited all your leading institutions from the General Hospital down to the abominable, germ-incubating, foulodorous, reeking, and filthy establishment used for the temporary incarceration of overindulging individuals and law breakers in general. I had visited almost every city on the continents of America, Australia, Europe, Asia and Africa and never during my travels have I visited such a fearful sink of filthy abomination as the lock up in Calgary presented to me.
I believe there is a contractor paid by the city for the express purpose of clearing away the refuse, and all health-destroying matter to outside the city limits. One look at the pile of decaying matter allowed to accumulate in one corner of Calgary's lock up is sufficient to convince anyone that the contractor may have visited the institution shortly after it was erected, but not since.
