PAOK, ONE OF THE MOST FAMOUS pro basketball teams in Greece, won the European Winner's Cup in 1992, the Greek championship in 1993, the European Korac Cup in 1994, and the Greek Cup in 1995 by running a simple but effective 1-4 offense against every man defense it encountered.

The critical #4 man in the #5 system was Matt Bullard, an NBA import from the Houston Rockets. His ability to play inside and outside the box encouraged me to run this system against man defense.

A great 6-10 outside shooter, Matt made the system extremely effective all year long. The "#5" offense sought to creat an outside shot through the use of vertical and lateral screens, as shown in the accompanying diagrams:

Diag. 1: 1 triggers the system by passing to 2, then faking left and cutting over the back-screen set for him by 5. If the pass is there, 2 will hit 1 for the lay-up or short-range jumper.
