Color is coming to Lexmark International Inc.'s laser printer line: The company will introduce the Optra C this week.
Lexmark intends to carve a niche for itself in the still small, but hotly contested, color laser printer market by offering business users better quality at a competitive price point, company officials said.
Instead of being a 300-dpi or 300-by-600-dpi color system, the Optra C supports a full 600-by-600-dpi resolution while maintaining a 12-page-per-minute (ppm) print speed in monochrome and a 3-ppm print speed for color printing.
