Wisconsin Energy Corp. is getting into the home inspection business, an apparent first for a utility holding company.
TrueView Home Inspection, Milwaukee, kicked off a test marketing effort Sept. 20 in Milwaukee, Waukesha, Washington and Ozaukee counties.
The service is aimed at people who need inspections of electrical, plumbing and heating/cooling systems, structural soundness, appliances and roofs before they commit to buying a specific home.
"This builds on work we've done in the past in providing service to homeowners," said Pete Schumacher, project manager. Wisconsin Energy's utility units - Wisconsin Electric Power Co. and Wisconsin Natural Gas Co. - have long offered energy efficiency audits and carbon monoxide tests to residential customers.
