GRITZINGER: Saab can call it a SportCombi; all I know is this is one fun station wagon. I assume that this is the kind of turbocharged V6 power that Ford has "discovered'' with its EcoBoost turbocharged gasoline direct-injection engines coming later this year.

The 9-3 is so quiet and refined-and the power so subtle yet immense-that it had me thinking the speedometer was a little out of whack. Every time I looked down, I discovered I was running at 95 mph.

If the rest of the industry is about to discover the joys of gas turbos as a way to provide power and economy, we're in for quite a treat in the coming years.
