Digital Collections has introduced an Internet module for its document and image archiving system aimed at newspapers, broadcasters, agencies and publishers. The World Wide Web interface brings the search and retrieval capabilities of Digital Collections' TextSearch and PhotoSearch clients to Web browsers.

Using a forms-capable Web browser, the user requests to make a search from the Digital Collections server. The database server sends the user an html search request form. The query is filled in; the database sends back results as gif images. If a full-resolution version of the image is needed, this can be requested and downloaded.
