Possibilities include hotel, entertainment center barge

A major expansion of the Casino Queen complex in East St. Louis is in the works as its owners try to beat a Laclede's Landing casino developer to the punch.

Charles W. Bidwill III, one of the principal owners of the Casino Queen, said the ownership group will announce next month plans for a major landside development of the Casino Queen complex, which debuted June 23, 1993.

Bidwill, who resides in Chicago, said the group is studying the viability of building an entertainment barge or a landside hotel to augment the East St. Louis development.
