The squared-off styling of Chrysler's new family of minivans met with mixed reviews from those on the AutoWeek staff. Some welcome the harder lines, calling them masculine, while others prefer the softer, rounder lines of the previous model. Either way, it's hard to argue with the overall packaging. The 2008 Dodge Caravan packs a lot of family-oriented stuff into its boxy confines.
Topping the list of new accouterments is a pair of swiveling second-row captain's chairs that, when facing backward, make room for the deployment of a small table otherwise stored in the floor. The whole setup injects the Caravan with a bit of a Winnebago feel, transforming the second and third rows into a cozy banquette of sorts where rearward passengers might collectively participate in a card game or eat a meal.
Such a setup, however, doesn't allow for a full exploitation of our favorite new feature, an entertainment system boasting dual eight-inch screens and a pair of DVD players that gives each rear row a separate video feed.
