New name as Vital signs off.
Vital today (Monday) takes the name of parent company Pias, as the UK- based sales and marketing operation looks to underline its international credentials.
The company, which will henceforth be known as Pias UK, has also announced that it is to change its primary distributor from EUK to Sony DADC.
Managing director Peter Thompson says that the name change, which will also see Vital Ireland and Vital Digital take the Pias moniker, will be of benefit to Pias both in the UK and internationally.
"People aren't putting the two [Vital and Pias] together," he says. "This is just that level of clarification. It takes that name [Vital] out of the picture that could confuse people."
Thompson adds that people in the UK often do not understand how wide- reaching Pias is, with interests in labels such as Wall Of Sound, F Communications and Pias Recordings, as well as international distribution and DVD operations and a 50% stake in mobile marketing and distribution agency Indie Mobile.
