NASCAR's Craftsman Truck Series continues to produce the kind of close, free-wheeling, entertaining, no-nonsense racing that even Cup and Busch drivers say is a hoot. It's a shame so few people actually watch the series, which just completed its 13th season.
If you did watch this year, you saw Toyota driver Mike Skinner and Chevrolet driver Ron Hornaday swap the points lead eight times in the last nine races. Chevrolets, Toyotas and Fords visited victory lane. Except for one interloper, full-time series regulars won all of the races. And it was some of the toughest racing in all of NASCAR.
Hornaday won his third title by 54 points over Skinner, the 1995 series champion. Other than after the season opener at Daytona Beach (where Jack Sprague won), either Skinner or Hornaday led the points throughout the 25-race season.
