The scale-model-car field was flooded with new arrivals this year, and we scoured the planet to bring you the best of the best. They're presented here in no particular order; rest assured that each could be viewed as a No. 1 pick. While we tried hard to keep the list to 10, we couldn't resist adding an 11th. The replicas range from 1:6 scale to 1:24 and represent the very best of 2007.
1. Highway 61 1957 Chevrolet Corvette, 1:6-scale die-cast, $799, www.ffertl3.com
If you live large, this magnificent replica of the 1957 Corvette is just what you're looking for. Its 1:6 scale affords an attention to detail you can't find on smaller models. It's all here, from tiny hose clamps and fuel and brake lines to every line and contour of the svelte body.
2. Danbury Mint 19641/2 Mustang Convertible, 1:12-scale die-cast, $495, www.danburymint.com
Danbury Mint, long revered for its excellent 1:24-scale cars and trucks, has come up with a 1:12-scale image of the iconic '641/2 Mustang Convertible that is the finest replication of this car we've seen.
