Rapide Rise
Aston Martin feels there's a much bigger market for the four-door Rapide than it first thought. The company is now forecasting production of 2000 cars per year, according to an AutoWeek source in the United Kingdom. Initially, Aston had pegged Rapide production at 500 to 800 units annually.
At the Frankfurt motor show in September, Aston boss Ulrich Bez said the order bank for the Rapide already stretched out two and a half years from the late-2009 introduction date.
Aston is evaluating additional production possibilities. Possible partners are Pininfarina of Italy, Valmet of Finland, Karmann of Germany and Magna-Steyr of Austria.
