Communist China has big ambitions in space, one of them being the assembly of a permanent orbiting space station by the year 2020. Now, according to the rules of the Chinese Communist party, the presence of three party members in one "work unit" is sufficient for the formation of a party branch. Since all Chinese astronauts are party members, we can look forward to the formation of a party branch in space once they have that space station up. The orbiting cadres will, says the Xinhua News Agency, "carry out the regular activities of a Communist Party of China branch in space in the way we do on Earth." ...
