The first speaker at this year's event is Paul Kolada, founder and head of Priority Designs, a Columbus, Ohio, industrial design consulting firm that focuses on sporting goods, home products and medical devices and works with brands as diverse as TaylorMade, Adidas, Lowes and American Standard.
The son of a Ford illustrator, Kolada grew up in the Detroit area, where he tinkered with a 1968 Ford Mustang and attended Cass Technical High School and the University of Michigan.
The 15th-annual AutoWeek Design Forum at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit continues a tradition of examining design in the automotive and consumer product worlds, celebrating it as the ultimate differentiating factor among products.
