HE WAS THERE
I must take exception to your "Performance Balanced'' piece (Oct. 29). It states, "Ferrari clinched its first-ever manufacturers' title in North America (who realized that?).'' And the photo caption of the Risi Competizione F430GT states, "Risi Competizione's Jaime Melo and Mika Salo finally gave Ferrari a North American championship.'' Four years ago, Scuderia Ferrari of Washington gave Ferrari a manufacturers' title in Grand American Road Racing's Rolex Sports Car Series, GT class, with drivers Cort Wagner and Brent Martini. I was part of that Washington team competing against Risi Competizione, and they are indeed a fantastic team. But let's please give the credit where it's due. Ferrari's first North American manufacturers' championship was in 2003 with our team.

HAT-WIT?
To FIA president Max Mosley: If you are half as smart as the plaid hat worn by the man you insulted, Jackie Stewart, you will apologize immediately for the "half-wit'' comment. Stewart means more to racing, driver safety and leadership away from the track than you could ever dream of. Being rich and having the ability to make stupid judgments of hardworking teams don't give you the right to challenge a champion on fairness of competition, something you don't seem to understand.
