MUSTANG RACERS
Ford executives announced at the Specialty Equipment Market Association show in Las Vegas that a new race car-the Mustang FR500S-will be available directly from dealers for $75,000. It will compete in the all-new Ford Racing Mustang Challenge for the Miller Cup-as in Miller Motorsports Park (MMP) near Salt Lake City. MMP will own and operate the series, which begins in 2008 with an eight-race schedule. The Mustang Challenge will support various other series events. Grand-Am will sanction the Mustang Challenge.
Ford officials also said the Mustang FR500GT is finally undergoing homologation for Grand-Am's Rolex Series GT-class eligibility next year.
