The public Utilities Commission turned thumbs down on two competitors who wanted to take over routes from the state's largest ground-transportation company serving ski resorts.
Colorado Mountain Express Inc. and ABC Carriers Inc. asked the PUC for temporary authority to shuttle passengers between Denver International Airport and Aspen, Vail and other mountain towns.
Their requests came on the heels of difficulties at Glenwood Springs-based Aspen Limousine Inc., which is better known under the names Vans to Vail and Vans to Breckenridge.
