Setting up the freeware package Trumpet Winsock to work with NetWare, SLIP, and Point to Point Protocol was pretty tough. The hardest part was looking for the drivers and associated information so we could handle configuration.

First, we downloaded Trumpet Winsock, Version 2.0b. But the Trumpet Winsock file package does not include the Open Data-Link Interface (ODI) packet driver that makes it possible to load NetWare drivers, including Virtual Loadable Modules (VLMs). So we looked for replacement drivers that would work with our 3Com Corp. 3C503 and 3C509 network cards, but we couldn't find them.
