Byline: John Sturbin
Nov. 1--The Jeff and Jimmie Show, otherwise known as the 2007 Chase for the Nextel Cup, rolls into Texas Motor Speedway this weekend as part championship/part conundrum.
Seven races into NASCAR's 10-event postseason, Jeff Gordon owns a tenuous nine-point lead over Jimmie Johnson. That's great news for the Hendrick Motorsports teammates, as well as the promotional efforts of TMS president Eddie Gossage.
But for Hendrick Haters, it's only more proof of piling on for a segment of NASCAR Nation who see their options limited to:
Rooting for Gordon to win his fifth Cup championship.
Rooting for Johnson to win his second consecutive Cup championship.
Rooting for Carl Edwards to lay off estranged teammate Matt Kenseth and sucker-punch either Jeff or Jimmie. Or both.
