Oct. 31--The Philadelphia School District is dismissing all schools on time today in the North and Northwest regions following a lockdown mode as city police pursue a gunman in connection with the shooting of a police officer at a doughnut shop in West Oak Lane this morning.

In all, 54 schools and early-education centers have been affected by the action.

Fernando Gallard, district spokesman said students were being released in an orderly fashion with secuity and police standing by. After school and athletic programs will go on as scheduled. The lockdown began with the Ellwood Elementary School because the gunman was across the…
