Tip leads police to arrest suspect in homicide case.

Oct. 30--RICHMOND -- A Richmond man accused of beating his girlfriend so savagely that she died the following day went to jail Sunday after police found him aboard a Greyhound bus.

Rodell Edwards, 31, left the Bay Area soon after the Oct. 12 death of Latricia Peoples, police Detective Sgt. Mitch Peixoto said.

But a tipster phoned detectives late Saturday night and said Edwards had boarded a bus in Denver heading to Oakland. Police met the bus at the Oakland Greyhound terminal about 1:15 a.m.

"He gave a fake name first, but when we called him on it he admitted who he was," Peixoto said.
