Candidate filing opens in Illinois.

Oct. 30--Candidate filing began Monday in Illinois' Feb. 5 primary races -- for anyone seeking office from the level of precinct committeeman to U.S. president.

The filing continues through this week until 5 p.m. on Nov. 5.

The early filers in the presidential race were New York Sen. Hillary Clinton and Illinois Sen. Barack Obama, the leading hopefuls for the Democratic nomination. As of Monday afternoon, no other Democrats had filed.

Republican candidates for president do not file until the end of November.
