Edwin John Bexten, 76, of Columbia, formerly of Omaha, Neb., passed away Sunday, Oct. 28, 2007, at his home.

Graveside services, conducted by the Rev. Richard Massey, will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 30, at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Edwin John Bexten was born July 12, 1931, in Hastings, Neb., the son of Henry Herman and Edna Lois Starks Bexten. He married Shirley Stilwell on Nov. 6, 1955, in Lawton, Iowa. He served in the U.S. Marines.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley; two sons, Jeffrey and wife Cheryl and Daniel and wife Becky, both of Harrisburg; one daughter, Jill Michelle Greenhoe of Columbia; five grandchildren, Madeline Joan Bexten, Kailey Rochelle Greenhoe, Daniel Douglas Greenhoe, Saige Nicole Bexten and Bailey Rae Bexten; three step-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
