Oct. 28--LAKELAND -- As a bail bondsman, Ronald "Rico" Reed's days are filled with the unglamorous work of navigating the legal system and tracking down people who would rather not be found.
But then there's his other job: Supplying bodyguards and personal security services for a broad spectrum of celebrities and public figures.
"A lot of people just don't know about us here," said Reed, 52, owner of SecureTek Services Inc. "We're probably one of the best hidden secrets in Lakeland."
"Hidden" is right.
Headquarters for the Bartow native is a low-slung office complex off South Florida Avenue in South Lakeland, where tenants include a salon and pest control business.
Other than a few scattered photographs on Reed's desk, there is little indication of SecureTek's high-profile clientele, which has included the Revs. Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton, Tampa Bay Buccaneers coach Jon Gruden, and Baltimore Ravens star (and Kathleen High School graduate) Ray Lewis, as well as comedian Dick Gregory and television's Judge Joe Brown.
