Exporters oppose cuts in Ex-Im Bank, other aid. (Export-Import Bank of the United States)

Washington state exporters are worried that budget-cutting fever in the other Washington could stifle this state's trade growth.

At issue are House and Senate proposals to kill or restructure the International Trade Administration and the Export-Import Bank as pan of the Republican majority's budget-balancing effort.

Critics here point out that the ITA and Ex-Im play a critical role in exporting billions of dollars of Washington state products, everything from Boeing jetliners to wastepaper.

The Boeing Co., for instance, last year financed the export of 57 jetliners worth approximately $3.8 billion through Ex-Im loan guarantees, said Tom Tripp, Boeing spokesman in Washington, D.C. In …
